Solo Day Hike on Wheeler Peak

March 28 Thursday 5:55pm call out. 36 year old female from Florida was on a solo day hike to the Wheeler peak area. Departed from Williams creek trail head and attained the ridge between Mt. Walter and Wheeler Peak. She traveled West (towards Mt Walter, away from Wheeler) through soft snow using Kahtoola spikes. At some point she decided to descend what appeared to her as a ski run but was an avalanche chute know as Peace Sign Chute. She traveled several hundred yards down the chute, trigging small wet snow slides. Scared to descend or ascend she grabbed a tree and called 911. ASAR responded with 4: Ben, Lauren, Sean, and Kevin. Departed Santa Fe at 8pm. Arrived at IB at the Phoenix grill in Taos Ski Valley at 10pm. Al Webster IC.  Team 1 with two from Taos SAR had found the subject at the top of the shoot. IB deployed a team of 10: four from ASAR, five from SFSAR, and the mayor of Taos Ski Valley, Christoff. Lauren was team lead with Ben as technical team lead. Coms on SAR 1 and NMFIRE. Assignment was to proceed to approximately 1 mile to the base of the shoot to wait for a potential technical evacuation. 2 hours waiting for Team 1 (in visual contact) to carefully descend the shoot with the subject. Subject was returned to IB healthy but tired.
